要求された操作を完了できません。ファイル形式モジュールでファイルの解析を実行できません。PNG画像

えと、表題の通りなんですが、まだ古いPhotoshop Element10を使っています。
メール添付画像をPhotoshop Element10で開こうとした時に「要求された操作を完了できません。ファイル形式モジュールでファイルの解析を実行できません。」というエラー表示がでました。
添付画像の拡張子はPNGです。

色々ネットを調べましたら、拡張子を元のものにするといいとあるので、元の拡張子を見てみようにも、そこはどこを見ればいいのかわかりません。
一か八かで、拡張子をPNGからjpegに変えて、Photoshop Element10で開いてみたら、大成功！開けました。
ということは、元の拡張子は、jpegだったということでしょうか。
なぜ、メール送信すると変わってしまうのか・・・、訳がわかりません。
とにかく、編集できたのでよしとしましょう。
